So far, after 4 days, we have seen 0 spiders. They either hide very well or they are just not as abundant as people wanted to make us believe. No white-tails, no red-backs, nothing. Not 1 spider anywhere to be seen and believe me we looked for them everywhere. We did however see whales in the sea and a wild kangaroo in the middle of a field, many birds and some friendly bugs. No snakes, no spiders, no nasties.
I will keep you updated if we spot any :)

Ha ha ha -love your accounts -you already have this place worked out :)
There are a few more spiders here, although people beat it up a little. Coming from Africa where you have "real" predators, Aussie is "no worries mate"
Do you guys have phones yet?
yep, we got the good ole Telstra mobiles, no time to be picky at the moment, we just got a simple 30$ prepaid telstra and that was hard enough to get without a driver's license. It will expire in 6 months anyway, but that's ok since we'll have some more time to figure out which mobile phone provider to go for. Unfortunately the Sunshine Coast doesn't have a lot of coverage and you're pretty much limited to Telstra and 1-2 others.
