Well... it seems that Australia is about to stop immigration due to the global financial crisis. I hope our Visa request was in just in time to be processed before this decision is made.
By the looks of it, it seems like Australia is closing it's borders. Bah...

Well let's not exaggerate here. The government has announced that it will rethink immigration.
The operative word is "think" here - nothing has been changed yet, and depending on how the economy develops, nothing may ever get changed.
And even if the policies are changed, I very seriously doubt that they will "close the borders". No country has ever completely closed the borders due to economic difficulties.
